Vegas taco shop owners mock burglars caught on camera

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) -- The owners of a local taco shop are hilariously asking for your help to find some burglars who hit their store earlier this week.
The restaurant caught the burglars on surveillance video but the owners decided to take a light-hearted approach to sharing it.

Strange thing is, this burglary is going to put a smile on your face.

Wednesday morning a couple of burglars busted into the door at Frijoles and Frescas near Charleston and Tenaya. The restaurant took the surveillance video and made it in to a viral video.

"We knew we wanted to get the help of the public but we're a fun company and we sat down and watched and thought you know, we can have a lot of fun with this," Carlson said.

Fun is an understatement, Carlson captioned the video making it look like the crooks just wanted to find tacos.

As the crooks rip out the cash registers, the caption reads, "There are no tacos in the register".

They shared the finished video on Facebook and it's gone viral.

"We want to believe our food is so good people will break down the door to get it. I mean I would," Carlson said. "After watching the footage I'm a little more convinced they were after cash and not the food."

Customers News 3 talked to agreed they think the tacos are good but wouldn't go to so much trouble to get them.

"I'd rather pay so I don't get in trouble," Jessie Madrid, a customer, said.

The clever idea is to get the photos of the thieves out to the public and hope someone recognizes them or their getaway car.

Carlson said the funniest part is the cash registers had no money inside and the burglars made out with nothing.

Metro told the owners they believe those same burglars hit a couple different shops that same night.

They're now looking to catch up with the thieves.

If you have any information on who the men might be you are urged to call police or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
