The local man charged with the brutal rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl back in 2011 faced the judge again on Friday.

It was the second day of the murder trial for 24-year-old Javier Righetti.

Prosecutors say he murdered, raped and burned Arbor View High School student Alyssa Otremba.

The state called five witnesses to the stand before noon on Friday.

During Daniel Ortiz's testimony, who was Righetti's nest friend at the time, he described his actions the night after Alyssa Otremba was murdered.

He says Righetti called his phone throughout the day. He said Righetti called again at night requesting his help.

Ortiz: "He saw the girl, he said he wanted to get the cell phone and the girl refused and he described it as he 'murked' her.

Prosecution: "What does 'murked' mean? "

Ortiz: "I would say it's slang for murder"

The defense did not cross-examine any witnesses. Righetti has already plead guilty to nine other counts including first-degree kidnapping and sexual assault. The guilty plea was tossed out in 2016.

Court is expected resume Monday at 1:30 p.m.
