Nevada man facing murder charge in death of one-year-old daughter

Adult charges often carry a more stiff penalties but charging a juvenile as an adult is very difficult for many cases. Since the passing of the state law NRS 62B.390, juveniles are no longer charged automatically as an adult. (Photo: MGN Online)

A murder allegation has been added to child abuse charges against a 24-year-old Nevada man following the death of his 1-year-old daughter from what police say were severe injuries.

Records show that Tracy Thompson was being held Friday at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas pending an April 13 court appearance following his arrest in the Colorado River resort city of Laughlin.

Thompson was arrested late Sunday after his daughter was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center in Bullhead City, Arizona.

The girl was later flown by medical helicopter to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas, where she died.

Thompson also faces a battery charge following a fight while he was being booked at the jail.
