'Smoke em' if you got em' suspect appears in court

The suspect in two high-profile cases appeared this morning for his initial arraignment in District Court at the Regional Justice Center.

Israel Jackson, 32, faces seven felony counts, including attempted murder and robbery with use of a deadly weapon.

Jackson was arrested Feb. 5 outside the South Point Casino after the sports book was robbed at gunpoint on Super Bowl Sunday. Investigators later linked Jackson to a series out robberies in January, dubbing him the “Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em” Bandit.

Detectives said that the suspect wore the same clothes, used the same gun and was violent in each altercation.

Jackson also is the suspect in an exchange of gunfire with an employee at a 7-Eleven near Rancho and Washington.

Jackson is scheduled to return to court April 10.
