One man was shot and killed this evening after a confrontation escalated on an RTC bus in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.

UPDATE | Victim killed in Thursday night bus shooting identified

The shooting occurred just before 5:45 p.m. near East Washington Avenue and North Pecos Road, according to Metro. The victim, a 20-year-old male, and a woman he was with were arguing with the suspects, described as three black males.

One of the suspects signaled to exit the bus. As they got off, one of them pulled out a gun and shot the victim. He was taken to UMC Trauma, where he died.

Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said the shooter could be a 15-year-old, about 5-foot-2 or 5-3. One of the other suspects was wearing an all-red jumpsuit. McGrath also said Metro is working with Clark County School District police about the possibility that the suspects are Desert Pines High School students.

McGrath also said surveillance video on the RTC bus will be examined thoroughly and issued a warning.

“This is a message to those involved: You don’t want to wait for us to get this video,” McGrath said. “You want to turn yourselves in.”
