89-year-old man killed in auto-pedestrian collision at Boulder Highway near Russell

A pedestrian was hit and killed Saturday morning in the southeast Las Vegas valley.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 89-year-old Gilbert Walter Miller of Las Vegas. His official cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and the manner was ruled an accident.

The collision occurred at 8:55 a.m. at Boulder Highway and Desert Horizons Drive, just north of Russell Road.

The preliminary investigation indicated a 2006 white Acura TL struck an 89-year-old man crossing Boulder Highway outside of a crosswalk.

Police said a 76-year-old man driving the sedan did not show any signs of impairment and remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Trauma and pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

The death was the 79th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
