It was an escape in a stolen car and a shootout with police that ended with William Chafoya being shot nineteen times. He can be heard screaming on police body camera video after the shooting “I'm dying. I'm dying. I'm dying," he yells.

On Wednesday, Sept. 13, we took our first look at that suspect. William Chafoya’s mugshot shows him bloodied and in a hospital gown. He survived the shooting when officers applied a tourniquet and now he faces serious charges.

Chafoya, a man with a lengthy criminal history in Clark County was suspected in a shooting on July 23rd. It was then that police say he fired out of his moving car and hit a bicyclist.

Two days later police were conducting surveillance on his stolen car and attempted to pull him over. Chafoya and a woman got out of the car and took off on foot. Chafoya pulled out a stolen handgun and fired at police. That exchange of gunfire ended with Chafoya struck nineteen times.

He survived and has been indicted by the Grand Jury on nine counts including attempted murder.
