Eclipse Theatres aims to set bar for upscale entertainment options in Downtown Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
Those who journey to Downtown Las Vegas now have the option for an upscale movie experience. Eclipse Theaters is aiming to give customers the VIP in an area who's upscale choices are limited.
Owner Nic Steele, joined his family, business partners and city officials for a ribbon cutting during the official grand opening on Thursday.
It's a business attracting the attention of many local residents like Deshaun Houston who lives and works downtown. Houston moved from Summerlin a year ago. Like many other Downtown residents, he was encouraged and excited by one of the area's newest additions.
"I like to be close to work, so I would always come Downtown. It's luxury, it's different," said Houston while talking about his first experience at Eclipse.
The $22 million project sits on the corner of 3rd St. and Gass Ave. The 70,000 square feet, three story building features reclining leather seats, in-theatre dining service, VIP theater suites, as well as an in-house restaurant and open bar.
Las Vegas residents like Michael Russell, who don’t live Downtown, are taking notice.
"It will bring locals back to Downtown because Downtown was going down in the dumps," said Russell.
For Downtown residents like Deshaun, the addition of Eclipse is a sign of progress, and also an inspiration.
"It's giving people a reason to come. You know they have the high rise condos, they have the movie theater, Fremont street. It means maybe I should invest in something like that," said Houston.
Eclipse Theaters is 21 +, so you'll have to plan for a babysitter before making the trip.
