Surveillance video caught the chilling moments a home invader tiptoed into a central Las Vegas house, before stealing a purse. A person was sleeping just feet away.

"Two gentlemen came over our back wall," said the homeowner, who did not want to be identified.

The home invasion happened Friday night just after 10 p.m. at his home near Rancho and Alta drives.

"We were sleeping on the couch and the next day, when we heard there were fraudulent charges from an item that was stolen, we preceded to go through our video footage," said the homeowner.

The footage showed two young men on the property, including a good look at the thief who stole the purse. The surveillance also showed the other home invader flip the middle finger at the camera.

"Our back door, unfortunately, was open," said the homeowner.

He says the duo was at his home for at least 10 minutes. One suspect even came face-to-face with the family cat as he stole more items.

"They could have took my car, I wouldn't care. It's the fact that somebody has the gall, the audacity, to come into your home when they see you there," he said.

The homeowner says it’s hard to believe this happened.

"We live in a guard-gated community," he said. "You think you're secure, but at the end of the day, you know you still need to be careful."

He hopes the home invaders are caught soon. The people who live inside the house believe awareness is key.

"What can we do as a community to make sure this doesn't happen again or at least make it that much more difficult that people doing this are going to think twice," he said.
