Fans on both sides of historic bout enjoy Las Vegas atmosphere
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
Fight fans flexed their muscles hours before the main event between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.
After the fight – won by Mayweather with a 10th-round knockout – a similar celebration took place outside T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip.
"It was history today,” said one fan. “I met Mr. (Floyd Mayweather) Senior in Walgreens, then I just watched his son knock somebody out."
"Conor McGregor fan here disappointed ... What can he do? He's not a boxer."
The line at Nine Fine Irishmen at New York New York had McGregor fans flocking from Ireland to take a jab at Mayweather.
"It's going to change history because he is going to beat Mayweather and he is the all-time champion," claimed one McGregor fan before the bout.
But boxing fans at T-Mobile Arena say there's only one man packing a punch.
After Mayweather's big win, even fans who didn't get to see the fight first-hand were anticipating the news.
"Mayweather could have knocked him out a lot earlier; he played along because he gave the fans money worth," one observer said.
While McGregor may have lost, his fans are still happy he got this far.
