Firefighters rescue dog from house fire in Henderson near Lake Mead and Warm Springs Road

Investigators say when crews initially entered the residence, they discovered an unresponsive dog by the front door. They were able to pull the 100-pound Pit Bull to safety and revive him with a specialized pet oxygen mask. Henderson firefighters rescued a pet dog from a house, Wednesday morning.

Fire crews responded to a residential fire in the 1000 block of Timberline Court, near East Lake Mead Parkway and East Warm Springs Road around 11 a.m.

When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from a side window of the home. Firefighters initiated an offensive attack and were able to enter the home through the front door, locate and extinguish the fire.

They were able to pull the 100-pound Pit Bull to safety and revive him with a specialized pet oxygen mask. He was transported in good condition by Animal Control to a veterinarian for future evaluation.

The home was unoccupied when the fire started.

There were no injuries to residents or firefighters. Two adults, one child, and a dog were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and possibly electrical in nature. The total estimated loss is $90,000 for structure and contents.
