A man is dead and a 14-year-old is recovering after being shot in the northeast valley.

The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 20-year-old Trayvone Crocket of Las Vegas. His official cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Lt. Goodwin with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says the homicide took place Thursday, at the Mountainside Condimums in the 6800 block of E. Lake Mead Boulevard near Hollywood Boulevard.

LVMPD officers have arrested 19-year-old Malik Kendrick, a property security guard, in connection with the deadly shooting.

According to an investigation by LVMPD, the two victims, identified as a 14-year-old girl and a man in his 20s, were in the pool area and had an exchange of words with a property security guard, later identified as Kendrick.

After exchanging words, detectives say Kendrick went to a vehicle and retrieved a firearm and changed into a hoodie, then returning to the pool area and shooting towards the victims.

Kendrick remained on the property and was contacted by police.

The man in his twenties was hit and died at the scene. The teen girl was hit in the hand and is expected to be ok.

At the time of the shooting, police say there were parents and children present around the pool area but no one else was injured.

Managers with the complex say security cameras were not working in the pool area but investigators are trying to see if they can still pull the video.

If the cameras work, Lt. Dan McGrath with LVMPD says "it's on" and a "game changer" to the investigation.

Kendrick was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder with use of a deadly weapon and attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
