A Las Vegas man is behind bars, accused of killing his girlfriend and then setting her body on fire.

22-year-old Raymond Lewis is being held at the Clark County Detention Center for the murder of 20-year-old Geranique Bentley.

According to the Clark County Coroner's Office, Bentley's official cause of death was strangulation and the manner was ruled a homicide.

Bentley's burned body was found hidden Saturday, at an apartment complex on Rock Springs Drive between U.S. 95 and Summerlin Parkway.

On Friday, News 3 talked to some of the last people to see Bentley alive.

"You just sat there and said you loved her and you missed her, and it was you? I don't understand that,” said Westine Parker.

Westine Parker says she feels betrayed by someone she thought she could trust.

"Why? Why you look me in my face and lie? Why did she deserve it?” she asked.

"Why didn't you just walk away and be the man that you say you are? She didn't deserve it,” she continued.

Parker says she asked Lewis if he was responsible for Bentley’s death. "What would make you do something so cruel to somebody?” she asked.

"She didn't deserve it. You don't do an animal like that. So you didn't care, you didn't love her, as you said,” she noted.

Parker says the couple used to call her Mom. She says the two were homeless and she would often feed them and give them advice.

According to Parker, she and her daughter told Lewis to talk to the cops. He took that advice and was arrested Thursday.

Lewis is expected to face a judge early next week.
