LVMPD names officer involved in Thursday fatal shooting event
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
A nearly 11-year veteran of the police force was the officer involved in a Thursday shooting that appears to have been a suicide.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer Weston Williams, 42, fired his weapon at the same time as a yet-to-be- identified man shot himself in the head.
The shooting occurred about 10:30 a.m. Thursday behind a strip mall near Jones Boulevard and U.S. 95.
Williams has been employed with the LVMPD since November 2006.
He is assigned to the Community Policing Division, Bolden Area Command.
Williams has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.
The name of the deceased has not been announced by the Clark County coroner.
