Wheeler was appointed an attorney in court on Friday and is scheduled for a status check next week.

Police believe Wheeler, along with two other adults and one juvenile, got into a confrontation with 24-year-old Valenzuela last week.

They believe the argument, which took place in the driveway of Valenzuela's home near Russell and Lindell roads, led to the deadly shooting that took Valenzuela's life.

Wheeler faces attempted robbery and murder charges.

The judge wants Wheeler to come back to court next week with the other two adult co-defendants during a status check, where they will continue on with the case.
