Attorneys representing News 3, and six national news organizations, have agreed to a Jan. 16, 2018 court date to argue for unsealing Route 91 shooting investigation records.

“Of paramount importance to petitioners is that this not be delayed any further,” said attorney Joel Tasca, retained, in part, by KSNV-TV.

Without a pending criminal case attorneys representing the media say it’s the only way the public can evaluate the law enforcement response to the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

At issue, during the January hearing will be 14 search warrants executed in the days after the shooting.

Authorities had broad authority to seize people, cars, computer hard drives, telephones and items found at Stephen Paddock’s Mesquite home and at the Mandalay Bay hotel.

Judge Elissa Cadish also acknowledged petitions from Scripps Broadcasting and the Review-Journal and enjoined them to the media effort to unseal public records.
