Tuesday marked a special milestone in its construction. The final beam symbolizing progress on a $90-million project.

The Park Theater that seats 5,000 is part of a project blending entertainment, dining, and park space between New York-New York and the Monte Carlo.

Tourists like Charles Spain of Baltimore likes the idea. "Think this is one of the best things that could happen for this space because looking at it as you pass, is just open air space that's there. You know, you just look at the things that happen between the two, and it's basically nothing, and this draws the space," said Spain.

The Park Theater has a way to go before it opens, but the T-Mobile Arena opens next week, and so does The Park. Locals and tourists will be able to enjoy a variety of restaurants, a beer garden and a great outdoor space that's not found on the Strip.

Chief Financial Officer of the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino David Tsai says they've invested a lot of money in bringing local desert shrubbery, trees and plants for the space.

"We spent a lot of time and effort really making sure we designed the landscaping and the paving to be something we thought was unique and that we thought was comfortable," said David Tsai, Chief Financial Officer of the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino.

While the T-Mobile Arena will seat 20,000, the Park Theater will seat 5,000 making it a more intimate environment; and that may attract different artists, events and fans.

The entire project was intended not just for tourists but for locals as well. As for Charles Spain, he says he can't wait to come back and enjoy this new destination on the Strip.

"Not everybody comes to Vegas to gamble. Some people come to Vegas for relaxation. Some people come for serenity and pictures and views and this actually offers that option," said Spain.

The Park Theater opens later this year. The T-Mobile Arena opens next week.
