Four orphaned bear cubs have been released back into the wild after nearly a year in Nevada state custody.

KTVN-TV reports that the Nevada Department of Wildlife rescued the cubs after they were found near a home about 10 months ago.

The cubs - two males and two females - were taken to Animal Ark after their mother died, where they ate a natural diet and had little to no human contact. Each cub weighed about 7 pounds when it was found and has now reached between 60 and 100 pounds.

NDOW put the cubs into hibernation in the fall. They were taken by car and helicopter to the Lake Tahoe backcountry on Wednesday.

Officials say the cubs should wake up in a month or two and should do ok on their own.
