It was – for the most part – smiles for customers waiting in long lines Saturday awaiting their chance to buy recreational marijuana legally in Nevada.

The sale of recreational marijuana became official in Nevada at midnight Saturday.

“I want to celebrate history,” said Nathaniel White. “We’re making history.”

White says he inched along for five hours before he finally had his purchase in hand.

“See, I’ve actually been in trouble from possessing marijuana before,” White said. “This is really a big deal.”

Marijuana remains illegal at the federal level, and those against its historic sale in the Nevada are continuing to vocalize issues they have, from how it’s regulated to how it's marketed.
