North Las Vegas Police confirm just a few hours after video surveillance from a gas station was shown to the public, a murder suspect was in custody.

"We have the shooter in custody as a result of putting this information out," said Officer Aaron Patty.

Police say 20-year-old Jamario Washington was arrested in the shooting death of 18-year-old Abigail Fischl.

The shooting took place Saturday night outside a gas station near Ann Road and Tropical Parkway.

Fischl was a passenger in a car police says was driven by a 24-year-old man. After the shooting, the driver took Fischl to UMC where she died of a gunshot to the stomach.

While police say they believe Washington acted alone, North Las Vegas Police wants to talk to a second person at the scene of the shooting. He was also captured on video surveillance walking into the gas station.

"We still want to speak with him to absolutely find out his story," said Patty.

Police say they believe the Jamario Washington somehow knew the victim and the car's driver. Police also do not believe this was a random act of violence. They are investigating contact between the two and the context of it, which is another reason why they want to speak to the person who appeared to know the shooter. Police say electronic monitoring was key to making an arrest.

"The cameras really told a story in this situation and it’s really a credit to the convenience store who invested in good quality cameras," said Patty.

Jamario Washington was booked for murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
