Victim and suspect identified in murder-suicide at apartment near Twain and Arville

Police are investigating a murder-suicide Sunday afternoon in the western Las Vegas valley.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the suspect as 34-year-old Andrew Vo of Las Vegas. His official cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner was ruled a homicide.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Mallory Michaelis of Las Vegas. Her official cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner was ruled a homicide.

A shooting was reported around 2:30 p.m. on the 4100 block of West Twain Avenue, near Arville Street, according to Lt. Grant Rogers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

LVMPD Lt. Dan McGrath said there was a 9-year-old boy in the home when the shootings occurred.

The man called police and told them he had shot the woman in the stomach, then called 911. He then called his mother, who in turn also called 911.

McGrath said when officers were arriving at the apartment, they heard another gunshot.

"The 9-year-old opened the door and told the officers what had happened inside," McGrath said.
