Man accused of not letting child exit public restroom arrested
UPDATE ON FEB. 9: Detectives received information that identified this person of interest as 21-year-old Nicholas Donovan.
On February 8, detectives located Donovan and as a result of the investigation, Donovan was arrested and transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he faces one count of lewdness with a child under 14.
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) -- Police need your help finding a man accused of holding a child against their will inside a public restroom.
On Nov. 24, around 10 p.m. a family was shopping inside of a retail store located near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Rampart Boulevard.
While in the building, a male juvenile went inside of the restroom and was in there for some time.
When a family member was about to go and check on the juvenile, the child came out and the family exited the store.
As they were leaving, the juvenile disclosed to a parent that a man had detained him in the restroom and would not allow him to leave.
The family went back into the store and reported the incident to employees, but the suspect was not found.
On November 27, 2017 the incident was reported to the LVMPD and detectives with the Sexual Assault Section were later able to obtain still photos of the person of interest.
The person of interest was described as a white or Hispanic male adult between the ages of 30 and 37. He was about 5’6” tall, had a medium build, dark hair and scruffy facial hair.
He has been seen on more than one occasion wearing a blue baseball hat.
