Republican front-runners arrive in valley for pre-caucus events

Now that the two Democratic candidates have left the state after Saturday's caucuses, the Republican hopefuls will being making appearances starting this afternoon in Pahrump when Texas Sen. Ted Cruz holds a rally at 2:45 p.m. He will be followed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and real estate mogul Donald Trump.

Two Republican presidential contenders will be appearing at campaign events today, and they'll be joined by front-runner Donald Trump on Monday.

The first event features Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and is set for 2:45 p.m. today at Draft Pick Sports Bar, 1101 S. Highway 160 in Pahrump. Doors open at 2 p.m.

Cruz will be at a super PAC rally at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. He will be joined by television personality Glenn Beck in what is being called a "Community Fireside Rally."

At 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is scheduled to appear in the Dallas Ballroom at Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane, in North Las Vegas.

Cruz plans an 11 a.m. Monday rally at Durango Hills Community Center, 3521, N. Durango Drive.

Trump has scheduled a rally at 7 p.m. Monday at South Point Arena, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Rubio will also hold a rally at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Silverton Casino, 333 Blue Diamond Road. Doors open at 7 a.m.

Dr. Ben Carson's website has one event scheduled for Las Vegas, a town hall from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sun City Summerlin, Mountain Shadows Community Center, 9107 Del Webb Blvd.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich will not be campaigning in Nevada prior to the Republican caucuses on Tuesday. His campaign lists a series of events in Virginia and Georgia, but none in Nevada, in the last 72 hours before Republicans vote there.

Trump won the South Carolina Republican primary on Saturday, his third straight victory.

Rubio finished second in South Carolina, trailed closely by Cruz.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush had scheduled a Sunday appearance in Summerlin, but he dropped out of the race Saturday night after receiving 8 percent of the South Carolina vote.

The Nevada Republican caucuses will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The headquarters for the GOP is at the South Point.
