Suspect arrested in Miracle Mile shooting of two security guards

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and faces multiple charges in the shooting of two security guards on the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday evening.

About 12:30 p.m. Friday, police apprehended Jonathan Ozuna as a result of the investigation and the assistance of citizen tips. He was arrested in the 6400 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard.

He was transported to the Clark County Detention Center and booked for two counts of attempted murder, burglary with a firearm, grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny and conspiracy to commit burglary.

About 7:45 p.m. Thursday, patrol officers were dispatched to the parking garage at Miracle Mile, 3600 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South to investigate a report of a security officer being shot.

Arriving officers located two security officers suffering from an apparent gunshot. Both were transported to Sunrise Hospital.

The investigation initiated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Robbery Section indicated the victims were attempting to apprehend two grand larceny suspects. The suspects fled on foot and the security officers gave chase. In the third floor of the parking garage with the security guards closing in, one of the suspects started to shoot at the security guards striking them both.

The case is still an ongoing investigation and no further information can be provided at this time.
