Teenager dead after swimming at Lake Mead over the weekend

An 18-year-old man is dead after swimming at Lake Mead over the weekend.

According to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the teen went missing while swimming at Gregg's Hideout on Lake Mead between 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 17.

The Lake Mead Interagency Communication Center received a report of the missing teen around 4 p.m. that same day.

National Park Service rangers responded by boat and land in search of the victim. The Bullhead City Dive Team was called in the following morning.

He was found at 10:18 a.m. June 18 near the point where he was last seen. He was not wearing a life jacket, according to Lake Mead NRA officials.

The incident is under investigation. The Mohave County Medical Examiner will identify the victim and determine the cause of death.

This marks the second death at the Lake Mead NRA over the weekend. A 32-year-old man from California died on Saturday afternoon while swimming at Cottonwood Cove.
