LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
A man and woman are in custody this evening after they attempted to elude a traffic stop in the northwest Las Vegas valley.
The incident began just before 10:30 a.m. on West Skye Canyon Park Drive near U.S. 95, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel. The driver of the Ford Expedition made a U-turn and headed eastbound on Skye Canyon, went up over a median and struck a Ford Flex head-on near Fort Apache.
The passengers in the Ford Flex were not injured.
The male passenger in the Expedition then exited the vehicle and tossed a weapon. The female driver moved into the passenger seat, and the male returned to the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene, but the vehicle was damaged and unable to move.
The two adults then exited the vehicle with two children into a nearby neighborhood. A perimeter was set up, and the two were taken into custody at her residence just after 12:15 p.m.
The children were taken to UMC as a precaution, but there were no injuries. They were turned over to Child Protective Services.
