Police hope security footage will help in search for suspect who killed woman near UNLV
Metro is looking for the person they say shot and killed a woman near UNLV'S campus last night. So far there are no details on a suspect, but police are hoping footage from nearby shops can help push them in the right direction of solving this crime.
Police say reports of a shooting came in around 8:45 last night. The body of a woman in her 20's was found in the parking lot of a business area just north of the UNLV campus.
Detectives do not believe it was a robbery, since the victim still had her jewelry and wallet on her.
According to the police, the victim was carrying grocery bags from a nearby Dollar Tree at the time of her death. They are now looking at surveillance video in the area in hopes of finding answers.
"The good thing is, she's going to be on video at the Dollar Tree and may be on video at the office building right behind me,” said Lt. Dan Mcgrath. “So, we may be able to get an idea of something. A vehicle or some kind of person."
Police say the victim was sitting or standing on a short wall when she was shot from behind at least once.
