Tonka truck recalled after it bursts into flames
Toys “R” Us is recalling a toy truck after it was blamed for a pickup truck fire in Washington State.
Grandparents scored a Tonka 12V Mighty Dump Truck -- a kind that small children can ride in -- from Toys "R" Us as a Christmas present for their grandson.
The toy apparently burst into flames as they headed home, north of Seattle. No one was injured in the fire.
When the family turned around to return the toy, it reportedly caught fire again, this time setting the grandparents’ truck on fire.
Toys "r" us responded with an apology, a refund, and a recall. The company said in a statement that while this appears to be an isolated incident, the company is pulling the toy from shelves and the internet until the cause is determined.
