Suspect fatally shot after attempted home invasion near Sahara and Sandhill
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
One person is dead after an overnight shooting in the east valley.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched around 12:56 a.m. Thursday to the Arcadia Palms Apartments located in the 3600 block of E. Sahara Avenue near Sandhill Road.
Officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside of an apartment. They also contacted the resident of the apartment who remained on scene for the police to arrive.
In an investigation by LVMPD's Homicide Section, it appears the resident was in his apartment when the front door was forced open by an unidentified man armed with a handgun.
The resident grabbed his own handgun and shot the suspect.
This is the 46th homicide investigated by LVMPD in 2017. The identity of the deceased suspect will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
No arrests have been made at this time.
At the conclusion of LVMPD's investigation, findings will be submitted to the Clark County District Attorney's Office for review.
