Southwest Medical has taken numerous steps to improve health care access in Nevada, including building new locations, recruiting new physicians and the thoughtful use of technology. Their telemedicine program – NowClinic -- is an example of health care technology that is improving health care access for Southern Nevadans. It’s part of their concept of on-demand medicine providing access to medical care 24/7. It’s virtually a house call with no appointment needed.
NowClinic is a face-to-face video chat technology that allows people using their cell phone, computer or mobile device to have a virtual visit with Southwest Medical providers for non-urgent conditions. It’s 24/7 and without an appointment. You can access it with your smart phone, lap top, tablet or desk top computer. You can use it for yourself or your family members. It helps eliminate some of the barriers to accessing care like figuring out transportation, work schedules or family obligations. For both individuals and families -- whether it is you or a family member who is feeling ill -- the difference is night and day. No more loading up the diaper bag, loading up the car and driving across town, or looking for childcare – often while you or your child is not feeling well!
NowClinic is perfect for health issues such as asthma, bladder infections, coughs and colds, bronchitis, diarrhea, nausea, insomnia and other non-urgent conditions . . .
NowClinic is most often used for conditions like:
Acne, Allergies, Asthma, Athlete’s Foot, Bladder infection/UTI, Bronchitis, Cold Sore, Cough/cold, Diarrhea, Eye Infections, Fever and Chills, Flu/Flu-like Illness, Gout, Insect/Spider Bite, Laryngitis, Nausea, and Poison Ivy/Oak.
Especially during cold and flu season, NowClinic is a great option – We send prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy, so the only time a patient may have to leave the house is to pick up their prescription. When a patient has a NowClinic visit, that information goes into their electronic medical record and their doctor has it as part of their medical history during their next routine check-up.
Of course, if a condition appears to be more serious, we’ll schedule an in-person exam or direct them to an urgent care.
Southwest Medical is happy to say we’ve surpassed 28,000 video consultations since launching the service in January 2014.The average speed for a provider to answer a NowClinic call is under 4 minutes (3:52). The average NowClinic visit is completed - start to finish - in under 8 minutes (7:27).
