It was a big week for local driver Kurt Busch, just two weeks removed from his Daytona 500 win.

Kurt returned to alma mater Durango High School for a celebration. Thousands of fans turned out to celebrate his success and take a picture with the Daytona 500 trophy. They even mounted his 2004 Nextel Cup Championship hood on the gym wall, but it was the big wheel race that had the students looking to a checkered flag.

Kurt, who graduated in 1996, said taking a trip back to school was an honor as he interacted with students, raced them on Big Wheels and even poked fun at a few of his teachers who are still at the school.
