LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
Alex Tuch scored the tiebreaking goal in the second period and the Vegas Golden Knights pulled away for a 7-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.
With the win, the Golden Knights moved back atop the NHL standings with 84 points -- one ahead of Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay.
The Fresno State trio of Deshon Taylor, Bryson Williams and Jaron Hopkins combined to score all but 15 of Fresno State's points as the Bulldogs hung a 77-64 loss on UNLV on Wednesday night to maintain their hold on third place in the Mountain West Conference.
The top five teams earn a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
With the loss, UNLV is tied with Wyoming for that fifth and final bye, with San Diego State a game back with three games left in the regular season.
Fresno State has now won 17 of its last 30 road games and earned its 20th win of the season.
Reno, Nevada native David Wise has successfully defended his gold medal in the men's halfpipe, edging teammate Alex Ferreira.
Wise wiped out on his first two runs before sneaking past Ferreira on his third with a score of 97.20.
Five of the first seven U.S. gold medals have come at Phoenix Snow Park.
