Boxer Floyd Mayweather Junior’s Las Vegas gym was a sticky 91 degrees for his media workout Thursday.

That temperature is typical for an old school boxing gym, but the fight Mayweather is preparing for, is anything but typical.

Thursday, both members of the press from boxing and mixed martial arts descended on the gym, ahead of his August 26th boxing match against UFC star Conor McGregor.

Mayweather, an undefeated former five division world champion, is a heavy favorite over the UFC lightweight champion, and a win for Mayweather would mean more than just millions and millions of dollars.

By defeating McGregor, Mayweather would surpass the 49-0 boxing record of the late, great Rocky Marciano, to have a record of 50 wins and no losses.

Mayweather would not answer whether he thought a win over McGregor would merit that record but commended Marciano for his contributions to the sport.

“Rocky Marciano is a legend. I take my hat off to Rocky Marciano,” said Mayweather. “Guys like Marciano, Ali paved the way for me to be where I’m at. I just want to go out there and fight, and just be at my best.”

New UNLV quarterback Armani Rogers is using preseason camp to work on his leadership skills.
