Project Neon: Oakey to be closed at I-15 for bridge demolition
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
Oakey Boulevard will be closed this weekend at the Interstate 15 for the demolition of the freeway's southbound bridge.
Tony Illia, spokesman for the Nevada Department of Transportation, says in a statement the closure will start at 10 p.m. Friday, March 23, and last through 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 27.
The bridge is being demolished due in part to age, as well as a need for added capacity, Illia said.
The demolition is part of the final phase of Project Neon, NDOT's effort to widen I-15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue.
The project is 60 percent complete and scheduled to be finished by summer 2019.
