Rain moving into the valley, winter weather advisory in effect for Mt. Charleston
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
Storm systems are moving into Southern Nevada, creating rain, as well as a chance for winter weather northeast of Las Vegas.
Just before 10 p.m., rain began to move in from the south into Henderson, gradually moving north through the valley.
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas also issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon, including Mt. Charleston.
The advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. Sunday, with showers and thunderstorms expected to bring occasional periods of snow to the Spring Mountains.
Most snow accumulation is expected above 8,000 feet and will be variable, with anywhere from a trace to eight inches above 8,000 feet.
High winds are also moving through Southern Nevada with southwest gusts to 30 miles per hour, becoming easterly with gusts to 15 miles per hour on Sunday.
