NLV police arrest two teens in attempted murder of cab driver
NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV My News 3) -- Police in North Las Vegas have arrested two men in the attack on a cab driver last month.
Jarvis Williams, 18 and Quincy Lovette, 19, face robbery and attempted murder charges in two robbery incidents.
One of the robbery incidents was captured on video by security cameras inside a taxi.
Cab Driver Frank O'Grady, 62, was approached by a man when another man walked up to him from behind and shot him.
O'Grady sped off while calling for help. Police and paramedics got to him a few minutes later at a nearby gas station. He has since recovered from his injuries.
Williams and Lovette were both arrested by North Las Vegas police for the robberies that occurred on Feb. 11 and Feb. 15.
Police dispatch received a 9-1-1 call Feb. 11 at about 3:30 a.m. regarding a shooting that took place on the 3900 block of Copper Stone Court. Officers found that O'Grady had been shot multiple times inside his cab.
The taxicab driver was lured to the 3900 block of Copper Stone Court. The taxicab driver met up with Lovette where there was a brief conversation, according to police.
Williams then approached the driver's side of the cab and fired several shots into the vehicle.
The victim fled the area and drove himself to a nearby convenience store where he used his radio to call for help. The 62-year-old Las Vegas man was transported to University Medical Center Hospital, where he later recovered from his injuries.
On Sunday, Feb. 15 at about 4:46 a.m., dispatch received a 9-1-1 call regarding a robbery that occurred in the 2100 block of Leatherbridge Court.
In this robbery, a 31-year-old man was lured to the 2100 block of Leatherbridge Court in reference to an internet advertisement. Lovette and Williams approached the victim and pulled him from his vehicle and robbed him at gunpoint.
After a brief struggle, the victim attempted to flee on foot. Both Lovette and Williams chased the victim, firing multiple shots at him.
The suspects then fled the scene in the victim's vehicle. The victim was not injured and later contacted police.
Lovette was later apprehended by patrol officers on the 5000 block of Losee Road.
Lovette was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon - victim over 60, one count of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, one count of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, one count of robbery with a deadly weapon, and one count of grand larceny auto.
Williams was later taken into custody by detectives at his residence in the 4500 block of Possum Berry Lane.
Williams was booked at the Las Vegas City Jail on one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon - victim over 60, one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, one count of robbery with a deadly weapon - victim over 60, one count of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and grand larceny auto.
