LAS VEGAS (KSNV My News 3) -- A 22-year-old suspect in a DUI crash that killed two sisters appeared in court this morning.
Seong Mo Lee made his initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court at 7:30 a.m. He faces charges of DUI resulting in death.
Killed in the 1:30 a.m. Thursday accident at Boulder Highway and Russell Road were Kamesha J'Nyah Gilmore, 17, and Gabriell Rene Thomas, 18, of Las Vegas, according to the Clark County coroner's office.
They died when the 2014 Nissan Versa they were in was struck by a 2014 Mercedes Benz E350. They were making a U-turn when his rapidly moving Mercedes hit their car broadside, sending their vehicle some 475 feet down the road. Their bodies had to be cut out of the car after the investigation was complete, some nine hours after the crash.
Lee was previously arrested by Nevada Highway Patrol in July on charges of DUI, drinking while driving, unlawful open container in a vehicle, unlawful use of a cell phone while driving and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to an arrest report.
Gilmore and Thomas were the 17th and 18th traffic-related deaths in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
