CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Ferry crew pulls family to safety after boat catches fire
KEY WEST, Fla. (NBC News) —
A Florida ferry was in the right place at the right time when a Sarasota family was forced to abandon their burning boat.
The Key West Express ferry diverted to offer assistance after receiving a distress call around 10 a.m. Monday.
"You could see the flames and everything coming out. It looked like an engine fire," ferry passenger Frank Klaput said.
The family on board the burning boat was forced to jump overboard into rough waves, before grabbing a crab trap buoy and swimming toward the ferry.
