'Legacies' brings new heroes & villains to The CW
Proving that vampires really are immortal, the CW’s newest fall show is a spin-off of its hits “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.” Some of the most popular characters are back, but this new supernatural drama can stand alone.
Heather Mills got to sit down with two of the stars, Matt Davis and Danielle Rose Russel to learn more about the magic in Mystic Falls.
It takes place at the Salvatore School for the Young & Gifted. It’s where vampires, witches and werewolves come of age, take on monsters and battle their own inner demons.
Matt Davis plays headmaster Alaric Saltzman. “You are cursed. You’re a vampire. You’re a werewolf and you have a curse that you have to deal with essentially but that doesn’t damn you to being evil,” David said of the show. He added, “At the end of the day you do have to choose the side of good.”
He said the show stands on its own, that even if a viewer didn’t see its predecessors, it will make sense. “It really is its own narrative. So, while it has some familiar shades from the past, it’s completely new.”
The storyline follows Hope, a tribrid of supernatural powers played by Danielle Rose Russell. Its format is about monster of the week and the stars promise that it moves fast. Despite being filled with otherworldly beings, it’s rooted in human emotion. Russel said, “It’s funny, our show has an element of humor to it that I think is really going to draw people in.”
Davis added, “There’s going to be lots of dynamics that everyone can relate to from high school.”
Villains and heroes will take over the CW in the all new Legacies on Thursday nights on the CW.
