One man is dead and another is facing charges after police say a gun was accidentally fired inside a Henderson apartment last week, according to police.

Henderson Police say the shooting was reported just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the 1200 block of Wigwam Parkway, near Stephanie Street and the 215 Beltway.

The victim was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. Detectives learned on April 24 that he died from his injuries.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified him as 21-year-old Desmond McMiller.

Investigators learned another man, 24-year-old Timmon Betts, was allegedly handling a gun inside the living room. He accidentally fired a round, which struck the victim while he was in another room.

Betts was arrested on suspicion of disregarding safety resulting in death and destroying or concealing evidence, according to police.

Court records indicate Betts is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on May 14.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. This marks the second homicide reported in Henderson so far this year.
