Suspect dead after hours-long barricade situation near Cheyenne, Nellis

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — UPDATE: Las Vegas police have confirmed the suspect is deceased.

UPDATE: Apartment managers and neighbors report the situation has ended, though LVMPD has not confirmed.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is on the scene of a barricade.

It was reported on Tuesday around 1:55 p.m. in the 4700 block of Cleopatra Ave near Cheyenne and Nellis Boulevards.

LVMPD says they received a call of a family disturbance in an apartment complex in the area.

Investigators say a female was armed with a firearm and was not allowing another person to leave one of the apartments. Officers surrounded the residence and crisis negotiators and SWAT arrived to de-escalate the situation. This is an active event and evacuations have been made to the surrounding apartments.

This incident is not causing delays to major streets.
