Bicyclist dies days after crashing into pickup truck in east valley
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
A 55-year-old bicyclist died from injuries suffered in a car crash earlier this month in the east valley, according to authorities.
The collision was reported on Sunday, Sept. 16, just before 10:30 a.m. at E. Baltimore Avenue and Lucerne Street, near Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said.
The cyclist was believed to be heading south on Lucerne, police say. A Dodge pickup truck was heading west on Baltimore.
The cyclist crossed the intersection without stopping and hit the rear of the pickup, getting thrown from the bike, according to police.
The driver of the Dodge stopped to help the cyclist and called 911. Officers responded, and the cyclist was taken to Sunrise Hospital with a head injury, according to LVMPD.
The cyclist, identified as 55-year-old Matthew Finn, died on Sept. 19, with the Clark County Coroner's Office ruling the cause was the result of blunt force trauma to the head, police say.
