With the New Year comes new laws.

Starting on Jan. 1st, there will be new regulations on where you can vape or smoke in the state of Nevada.

And it includes places many of us go to.

If you like to vape or use e-cigs, you won't be able to in most public spaces and indoor workspaces.

Vape and e-cig products are a big part of sales at Gold Rush Smoke Shop 2 in downtown Las Vegas.

"A lot of vape juice, Candy Kings are really good," said employee Vardan Sandaldchyan, while giving News 3 a tour.

Starting next week, these products can't be used at schools, child care facilities, grocery stores, shopping malls, and movie theaters.

And the big change for us in Vegas will be restaurants, even the ones inside casinos.

"You can smoke in your house,” said Sandaldchyan. “It doesn’t affect the actual smoking. Just don’t smoke inside restaurants, inside where there are kids around. You know there are other people that you know don’t like the smell."

Chaleece Cantiberos, the manager at IHeart Vape, says she's not concerned about the new regulations affecting business.

"Honestly for us, because we’re turning into more of a vape lounge, I think it might bring more to us because there are more places that you're not allowed to vape,” she said. “People want a place where they can just come hang out and vape."

One local restaurant employee says they already don't allow any type of smoking and haven't had issues attracting customers.

“People are willing to come outside. And I’m grateful that we have such a great staff and team that we’re personal with our customers. So when they go outside, they come right back inside and pick up the conversation where it left off," said Alysia Bosnos, a barback at Evel Pie in Downtown Las Vegas.

However, Cantiberos says there should be some options for vapers once the regulations go into effect.

"They should have a sectioned area for people who want to smoke and vape,” she said. “Or even like a separate restaurant part where people can still sit at the bar and smoke and eat if they want to."

So where is smoking or vaping still allowed: inside casinos where minors aren't allowed, enclosed areas in stand-alone bars that don't accept minors, tobacco stores, and private homes.
