LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Caesars Palace is planning to demolish the rotunda that faces the Las Vegas Strip later this year.
Public records filed with the Clark County Building Department indicate a permit was issued last week for the demolition.
The plan calls for removing the 5,006-square-foot rotunda across the street from The LINQ, along with the surrounding landscaping, planters, pillars, statues and obelisk.
The project is valued at $157,500.
Work is required to begin within 180 days of the permit being issued, which would fall in early September, just before the start of Formula One in November.
It's unclear what would take over the space once demolition is complete. Caesars Entertainment did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
