LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
Police say a barrage of bullets flew in a shootout Thursday night damaging homes.
One man is dead and another is under arrest.
Linda Ramsey lives in the neighborhood. She witnessed the shooting. "It's discouraging that mankind has gotten to this point."
Ramsey never imagined she would be ducking from bullets on her 80th birthday.
On Thursday after 5 p.m. in the 5100 block of Del Monte Avenue, near Decatur and Oakey-- a barrage of bullets flew through her neighborhood. Police say there was a shootout between two groups of people who got into an argument.
"You move into a neighborhood that's coming back up to standard and this happens. It's hard to believe", says Ramsey.
Homicide detectives tell us a man involved in the shooting ended up dying in the crossfire. Investigators were able to arrest 28-year-old Gilberto Barrientos for the murder.
Neighbor Mark Vinton witnessed the victim get shot from his front window.
"I just looked out the window and see these guys shooting at each other. I told my son call 911 now."
During the shootout, bullets hit several homes.
Many cars ended up with shattered glass and flattened tires.
Vinton thought he was in a war zone.
"When it's coming toward our window it was very concerning."
Ramsey tells us she still feels a sense of helplessness seeing the victim's lifeless body on the street.
"I was going to go out to the guy. I had to stop because the bullets were flying."
Vinton tells us it's still hard to believe an argument caused his neighborhood to become a shooting gallery.
"I'm still a little concerned about it."
