Child porn charges dismissed against Vegas shooter's brother

Bruce Douglas Paddock, 59 (LAPD)

Los Angeles prosecutors say felony child pornography charges against the brother of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock have been dismissed by a judge, but they intend to refile the case.

District attorney's office spokesman Paul Eakins says Thursday the charges against Bruce Paddock were dismissed on May 30.

He says prosecutors had filed a motion the day before asking to continue the case because a witness wasn't available. But a judge denied the motion the next day, and prosecutors were unable to proceed with the case.

Eakins says they intend to refile charges.

Prosecutors alleged Paddock possessed more than 600 images of child pornography in 2014.

His brother shot and killed 58 people and injured hundreds others on Oct. 1, when he opened fire on a concert crowd from his Las Vegas hotel suite.
