LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Interested in serving the State Legislature for the next two years?
With Chris Brooks and Olivia Diaz moving on from their seats on the State Assembly, Clark County is accepting applications from residents interested in filling their positions.
Brooks, who represents District 10, was appointed to State Senate Tuesday, Dec. 4, while Diaz just announced her resignation from the Assembly on Monday, Dec. 3.
Applications are available through the Clark County website and can be emailed to Katie Walpole at Kathleen.Walpole@ClarkCountyNV.gov or delivered to Katie Walpole in the County Manager’s Office, located on the sixth floor of the Clark County Government Center at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
All applications are due by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10.
Appointees must live in the district they are seeking to represent and be the same political party as the resigning member.
Diaz and Brooks belong to the Democratic Party.
Those appointed will serve until the next election, which will be November of 2020.
Once applications have been reviewed, a list of qualified applicants and their applications will be forwarded to members of the County Commission.
They, the final decision will be made, most likely during the Board of County Commission meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
