Las Vegas (KSNV) — Almost five million couples have made their love official in Las Vegas as the city continues to celebrate love throughout the month of February.
On Thursday, February 17, it was announced that the county was anticipating their 5 million marriage license to be issued sometime this weekend.
That same day,Clark County Commissioners and County Clerk Lynn Goya met at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign to turn the sign's light bulbs red, pink, and white ahead of the milestone.
“Whether you are a local or a tourist, Las Vegas has everything you need for the perfect wedding,” Commissioner William McCurdy II said.
“We are excited to help celebrate Wedding Month and can’t wait to congratulate our five millionth couple.”

According to the county, the lucky couple will receivea Key to the Las Vegas Strip and a proclamation honoring them on behalf of the Clark County Commission.
They will also receive several gifts from Clerk Goya, some of which include a two-night stay at the Paris Las Vegas,$1500 roundtrip airfare on Allegiant Airlines for a return trip to Las Vegas, autographed metal print of the new Marriage License Bureau Mural by local artist Jerry Misko, and a$150 dining certificate to Bootlegger Las Vegas.
As part of wedding month, the county has also opened atemporary marriage license office atHarry Reid International Airport, which will remain open through February 22.
Couples can also apply for a marriage license at the county's main office, located in downtown Las Vegas.
This year saw more couples looking to tie the knot ahead of Valentine's Day and the once-in-a-lifetime palindrome days like February 2, February 20 and February 22, 2022.
“February is always a popular month because of Valentine’s Day, but this year is even more exciting because of the special dates 2-2-22, 2-20-22, and 2-22-22. In addition, we expect to issue our 5-millionth marriage license soon,” Clerk Goya said.
“I want to thank all the couples who have helped us reach this milestone and made us the Wedding Capital of theWorld.”
Ahead of the weekend, it was also announced that Michael E. MindenDiamond Jewelers was commissioned to custom design the Official Diamond 5 Million Love Stories Ring commemorating Las Vegas’ 5 Millionth Wedding License.
The inspiration behind this commemorative ring was the famous lights of Las Vegas and the glittering stars and will feature(15) Round Brilliant-Cut Diamonds sprinkled throughout star-lit stations - created in 14KT Yellow Gold with 14KT White Gold enhancements.
