LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The under-construction bridge for U.S. 95 over Eastern Avenue partially collapsed Thursday afternoon, injuring one worker.
The collapse was reported just before 4 p.m. Thursday, as part of "planned and ongoing demolition work "on the US 95/Eastern Avenue bridge.
One construction worker was injured and taken to a local hospital but was later released, expected to make a full recovery, according to Justin Hopkins, spokesperson for the Nevada Department of Transportation.
That portion of the bridge deck and Eastern Avenue had been closed to traffic since Monday. Eastern Avenue was originally scheduled to reopen next week.

U.S. 95 was briefly closed after the collapse but has been reopened. Transportation officials say the freeway remains safe for drivers.
"NDOT is closely monitoring the situation and working with safety officials to determine the cause of the incident," NDOT said in a statement.
There is no word yet if this will delay scheduled work on the project as part of the Nevada Department of Transportation’s $40 million viaduct rehabilitation project.
