Contractors board warns of roofing scam targeting Las Vegas area
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
The state's contractors board is warning the public about an alleged roofing scam targeting homeowners and businesses in the Las Vegas area.
According to a statement from the Nevada State Contractors Board, a Las Vegas resident made a complaint accusing Joshua Spiro of taking a $2,300 down payment for a roof repair project.
State officials say Spiro, who is unlicensed, has a reputation of traveling across several states and using several aliases, including the names "Rick" and "Frank" while in Nevada. His businesses have also used the names "Spiro Roofing" and "Lee's Roofing."
Investigators have learned that Spiro was the subject of two other complaints, and he has advertised roofing services through flyers.
Anyone who believes they've been scammed by Spiro or might have information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the NSCB hotline at (702) 486-1160.
